SUMMARY:INHEF Seminar: The Inclusive University in Theory and Practice
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an inspiring seminar with Professor Jan McArthur from Lancaster University\, coinciding with the launch of the School of Education’s Centre for People with Intellectual Disabilities (TCPID) co-learning report\, ‘The Only Thing to Do’\, in collaboration with the School of English\, Trinity College Dublin. \nThe report showcases a pioneering project where students with intellectual disabilities and undergraduate students learnt together in a shared academic space. These students serve as role models\, demonstrating the possibilities of higher education and showing how inclusive learning benefits everyone. \nThrough their experiences\, the seminar highlights how higher education can be a place where all learners thrive\, fostering confidence\, collaboration\, and opportunity. It’s a celebration of potential\, ambition\, and the impact of inclusive practices in opening doors for the next generation of students.

SUMMARY:INHEF Symposium 2022
DESCRIPTION:The Inclusive National Higher Education Forum (INHEF) is a national interest group comprised of representatives of higher education providers and other professionals interested in supporting access routes and inclusive education initiatives for learners with intellectual disabilities in the Republic of Ireland. \nThis symposium seeks to provide a collaborative platform for people in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to demonstrate their advances in providing for the diverse student body that reflects Ireland’s post-secondary population’s strengths and needs. Further\, it strives to provide a space for persons with Intellectual Disabilities (ID) to relate their educational journeys and to challenge HEIs in advancing their inclusive thinking\, acting\, planning\, and policy development. \nTopics being presented include Student success\, Inclusive teaching & learning enhancement\, teaching/learning in a digital world\, and professional development of all those who teach. \n• We want to share some of the good examples of inclusive education for students with intellectual disabilities across Ireland and other countries.\n• We want to give students and graduates with intellectual disabilities a chance to share their experiences of going to college and learn from them.\n• We believe this will help to make colleges more inclusive to all students\, graduates\, lecturers\, and professionals with experience in ID in college.\n• We hope the symposium will help people making important decisions in Ireland to make colleges more inclusive.
