SUMMARY:Tallaght Community School hosts ‘College Awareness Week’ events
DESCRIPTION:Here at TCS\, we want all our students to understand the benefits of going to college and highlight all the opportunities available to them. Running from 22-26th November 2021 we have lots of activities and events planned in school. \nThis year we’re also delighted to welcome Trinity Access 21 to launch their College Awareness Week with us here in TCS which will include a special visit from Simon Harris TD\, Minister for Further and Higher Education\, Research\, Innovation and Science. \nOver the course of the week our activities will include: \nCollege presentations for our 6th years\nHEAR/DARE presentations for 6th year\nCollege Connection Webinar for TY\, 5th year\, 6th year and LCA students\nPast TCS pupils will speak about their experience as alumni of UCD\, TU Dublin and Maynooth\nJunior Achievement Ireland event with Johnson and Johnson to TY\, LCA 5 and 6.\nStudent created career projects displayed around the school\nBusiness in the Community Mentor programme with Arup volunteers covering their college journey for our 5th years.\n1st\, 2nd and 3rd years will participate in a special lesson with activities like CAW word search\, dream job exploration\, using careers portal and completing a CAW themed scavenger hunt around the school building.\nCollege information table in the canteen at lunchtime – daily competitions\nLCA 5 media project – Interviews with teachers about their college experience with video used in CAW lessons across school.\n3rd year music class are composing and recording a song about college and the Art class have designed and created posters of College names to display in the Canteen.\nTY students will have a college cookery themed Home Economics class

SUMMARY:Community Mentoring with Tallaght Community School
DESCRIPTION:The Community Mentoring (CM) programme is a unique inter-institutional and community-based mentoring programme that is comprised of Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology (IADT)\, Marino Institute of Education (MIE)\, National College of Art and Design (NCAD)\, Royal College of Surgeons (RCSI)\, Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and University College Dublin (UCD). As part of the Community Mentoring programme\, two third level students\, from underrepresented groups will deliver structured mentoring sessions to a group of learners. One session will take place during College Awareness week\, one in January and one in March.
