DESCRIPTION:TUS Midwest Access Service are committed to the provision of a Study Club for secondary school students who experience educational and socio-economic\ndisadvantage. Study Clubs provide young people with additional academic support in a structured manner. It also creates a link with students/schools/parents in the community and reminds them that TUS is a viable option for their future education by offering support pre-entry.\nAcademic support in mathematics is available to all Study Club members on TUS Moylish campus on a weekly basis (Wednesday evenings) and\nsupported by a dedicated tutor. Math support is offered at both ordinary and higher levels to cater for all student requirements and is available to all Study Club members. We are again holding our study club Maths classes during College Awareness week.

SUMMARY:French and Sport @ TUS - GO4IT 6th Class Group
DESCRIPTION:6th Class students from  local DEIS schools attending TUS Midwest today for classes in French with our International Business students and staff and will then take part in a sports session on our astro turf with the Sports office. The students will also enjoy breakfast in our canteen here in Moylish to soak up the full student experience. \nBackground:\nTUS Access Service works in partnership with the Northside Family Resource Centre\, Corpus Christi Primary School\, and Thomond Primary School to deliver the Go4IT programme. The Go4IT programme has been designed to empower young people by providing them with skills\, knowledge\, and opportunities to explore the higher education environment. The Go4IT programme takes a holistic approach to education and aims to introduce the concept of lifelong learning and show that education has a real purpose. This approach recognises the importance of parental and family engagement.  \nThe main objectives of the Go4IT programme are:  \nTo facilitate increased access to third-level education by young people from the linked areas\nTo raise awareness of educational options for young people and their families\nTo provide young people with a positive experience of third-level education\nTo support young people to reach their full educational potential\nTo break down barriers and misconceptions the participants and their families may have in relation to third-level education\nTo demonstrate that third-level education is a welcoming and supportive place.\nThe first year of this programme begins in sixth class at primary school. Once the student enters secondary school\, they transition to our Go4IT second level programme.

SUMMARY:Code4Fun Camp for TY Students (TUS Midlands)
DESCRIPTION:Code4Fun Coding Camp for TY Students \nCode4Fun is a free camp for aspiring coders\, which encourages them to unleash their creativity by conceptualising\, coding and evaluating technology solutions to real-world problems. Over the course of the week\, participants gain an understanding of the practical application of theory and critical skills in a collaborative environment. \nThe goal is to get students to start thinking like software engineers and figure out solutions to problems through effective teamwork and communication. Recreating the dynamic atmosphere of leading software companies\, participants will experience the fun\, creativity and innovation of a rapidly evolving sector. \nAnonymised feedback from previous camps is incredibly positive with students citing it as “fun”\, “informational” and “insightful”. One transition-year student said that it had inspired them to want to pursue computer science in the Leaving Certificate and a degree in software thereafter\, while another said that the virtual camp was a great way of meeting new people and practicing their coding skills.
