CAW 2022 Launch
The 9th annual College Awareness Week (CAW) is taking place nationwide from the 21nd – 27th November and was today launched in a primary school, Scoil Cholmchille in Ballybrack. The campaign seeks to show how College can be and should be for everyone.
According to Kathleen O’Toole-Brennan, founder of College Awareness Week, “College Awareness Week seeks to highlight the benefits of going to college, providing students with local role models, and empowering students by opening their eyes to a variety of options which will help further their education. The campaign aims to support students to consider all post-leaving certificate learning opportunities including Further Education and Training, apprenticeships and traineeships, Post Leaving Cert (PLC) courses, or community and adult education.”
Since its inception in 2014, CAW has been driven and coordinated from within the Trinity Access Programmes (TAP) in Trinity College Dublin. To coincide with the launch of CAW, this year the organisers plan to celebrate the upcoming 30th anniversary of TAP by planting 30 trees nationwide.
Despite Covid restrictions last year, CAW thrived in its hybrid approach with 55% of DEIS schools represented and 150,000 students taking part, making it the biggest year yet.
CAW plans to build on this success and reach even more students, particularly those who need it most.
