CAW Fever is Reaching Fever Pitch!
We’re gearing up for all things College Awareness Week as we have less than one week to go until CAW 2017. A dhaoine uaisle, mark it in your calendars again as this year CAW will take place between the 19th -24th of November. Our team has been working around the clock to process and publicise over 600 events and that’s even before College Awareness Week has begun! This year is CAW’s biggest as our social media channels keep showing us the lengths educators, teachers and facilitators are going to serve the CAW call to arms.
All across the country we’re seeing primary schools organise CAW creative sessions where students fill out and brainstorm the life they might have when they leave school. Many secondary schools have designed entire CAW weekly schedules where senior students are mentoring juniors on the positives of post-secondary education and career options. Further education and training centres have been collaborating to pool their resources and in true CAW-spirit provide education fairs with their linked colleges and local business and entrepreneurs. As CAW grows, so does the needs of students. Our soft launch at Croke Park’s Skywalk and the Community Mentoring summit in the past few weeks have added new initiatives and momentum to the cause. Mary Mitchell O’Connor, TD and Minister of State for Higher Education praised all projects as “they give students today equal and fair opportunities to informed decisions on the life and career options they can have once they leave school or college.”
It’s wonderful to see CAW serve the students of today as they make the thinkers and workers of tomorrow. Even as we post this our inboxes, twitter notifications and FB messages are growing and growing. We’re urging all CAW Champions from Mizen Head to Malin Head to get out, log your event and share your CAW message with T-minus one week every event and story shared counts!
